Good Testimonies

Today I was privileged to visit with a Pastor who has been leading one of the After-school Good News clubs. He was sharing that several of the children who had come to Good News Club also came to their Vacation Bible School. After one of the the lessons when the teacher issued an invitation to anyone who wanted to talk to the teacher about receiving the Lord as Savior, one of the girls said out loud that she had done that in Good News Club this past year! Then another girl spoke up saying that she also had received the Lord at Good News Club. It became a testimony time, and several of the children shared when and how they had already received the Lord! During that same Vacation Bible School, nine more children came into the Kingdom.

During that same visit with the Pastor, he shared that he felt badly about one of the older girls at the club. She was in 5th grade and didn't know about Good News Club until later in the year. She began coming and expressed how genuinely glad she was that we came to her school and she could come to Good News Club. Each time the Pastor would visit her home or send and invitation to her about a church program like their Wednesday night ministry or their Vacation Bible School, she would be so excited and desire to go. However, each time she wasn't allowed to attend. Since she is moving on to 6th grade and Middle School, she won't be able to come to Good News Club anymore. Please pray for her and that her parents may begin to allow her to attend church.

Another great testimony came from some parents. We love to hear what parents have noticed. I believe that Pastor Tim actually heard this through the grandparents. One of the boys who came to Good News Club was very rambunctious. He was one of four who were pals and "hung together." At the beginning of club we had to discipline them pretty often but after a couple of months they were the most engaged, able to answer all of the questions and loved to share things with us from their lives. This boy could play the recorder very well. He had even learned how to play "Amazing Grace." While challenging, we also enjoyed him and his companions quite a bit. The parents shared that they had considered holding him back. He wasn't excelling in school and wasn't behaving well either. After coming to the Good News Club all year and also being more involved with church with his family, he was on the Principal's List -- that is for students who are doing excellent work and making good grades! His parents attribute a lot of it to the Good News Club teaching and fellowship.

We love to hear how God's Word and His Spirit is working in the lives of the children. Please pray for Alban Elementary and for the Good News Club Team. We need another teacher and we need several more helpers to come onboard before October.
