Teach the Little Ones

I had the privilege of helping with a Vacation Bible School this month. We had 7 preschoolers -- most of them 3 years old. We spent a lot of time "training" them. Teaching them what standing in a line means, helping them work together to play games, teaching them to share their crayons and so on. In the midst of it all we did hear them learning -- learning from the lesson of Jesus choosing Andrew and Peter as disciples, learning from the miracle of feeding the 5,000 men + women and children. We went fishing, rowed a boat, decorated our own fish and remembered the lessons. We played non-competitive tic-tac-toe and remembered the lessons. Important things to consider when teaching these little ones is that learning and play can (and should be ) combined plus these little minds are soaking up everything we give them.  Though we may spend a lot of time training them in things that will help them hear God's word, it is always worth it when you have those few minutes of them hearing and taking in that Word.  Sorry I don't have pictures -- I was a little busy :-)
