God's Good Answers

This past week we have been doing training for our Good News Club teams. One of the topics we offered at the training is "God's Good Answers to Kid's Tough Questions." This used to be a regular column in the Teach Kids! Magazine (which I miss VERY much). Mr. Grant at CEF headquarters answered questions that were sent into them and every issue would feature a new article.

The training class takes a look at how to make the Good News Club (or any children's class) an inviting place for questions and how teachers can effectively answer questions in accordance with the children's ages and needs. We also took some time to consider a few of the questions and what are God's answers. These questions range from "What does God look like?" to "Do real Christians commit suicide?" We didn't have time to go through all fifteen questions outlined, but each student took those sheets home with them.

Sometimes we wonder how the training is helpful to our teachers and Grade Helpers. Often we are thinking only in terms of the Good News Club and forget all of the other venues in which these folks teach and influence children's lives.

Yesterday, our Director got a call from one our training participants. Her nephew had dropped by the morning after the training event. He was talking to her and her husband about some tough questions his son was asking him about God. Her nephew didn't know how to answer his son. She said, "Have I got something for you!" She was able to share the questions and answers with her nephew and rejoice in God's perfect timing!

Just another example of never really knowing to what extent God will use your obedience. A HUGE THANKS to our CEF Headquarters folks who created the class notes and outlines and Mr. Grant who has been searching out child-sized answers for really tough questions for decades!
